Benidorm, on the Costa Blanca,
has been witness to the passing of many different civilisations,
which have all left their mark in historical monuments.
Everything from vestiges of Iberian settlements to fortifications
and watchtowers can be found in Benidorm, on the Costa
Blanca, in the Region of Valencia, Spain.
You must visit:
BALCÓN DEL MEDITERRÁNEO
The great rock that separates Benidorm’s beaches
was used as base for a fortress used in an early warning
system against assaults by Berber pirates. Today it
remains as one of Benidorm's most emblematic images,
known as " The balcony of the Mediterranean ",
with its white stone balustrade and its privileged viewpoint.
IGLESIA DE SAN JAIME
In the Neo classic style, the temple was built in honour
of the patron Saint of the locality, San Jaime. Close
to the Plaza Castelar Viewpoint.
TORRE MORALES OR ESCALETES
This tower formed part of the network of watchtowers
of the Alicante coastline. Its remains are in ruins.
TORRE PUNTA DEL CAVALL O SEGURÓ
Though all that remains is the lower half of this tower,
its ruins are an example of the network of watchtowers
that the municipality relied upon.
TOSSAL DE LA CALA
This late Iberian settlement demonstrates the economic
activity that made the area an important commercial
and exchange centre.
