SELWO AVENTURA
Close, tantalisingly close…so
close, in fact, that you will feel part of this natural
setting.
With its faithful reproduction of original habitats
from all five continents, Selwo Adventure is home to
over 2,000 animals living in semi-freedom. Its four
routes may be followed either on foot or aboard an all-terrain
vehicle.
In the Central Village, the spirit of
Asia is present in the shape of the prince of the jungle:
the Bengal Tiger. The Bats’ Grotto is home to
night creatures which ordinarily only come to life when
others are sleeping, yet thanks to a specially devised
lighting system, eagle owls and bats are active here
during the daytime, immerse in the artificial night
recreated by the grotto.
The Lake Reserve is home to the larger mammals, such
as the giraffe, elephant and white rhinoceros. Brown
bears, bison, camels and lions abound along the Valley
Route, while up in the skies, the Birds’ Canyon
is Europe’s largest aviary with over a 1,000 different
species.
Selwo also boast a range of other activities: you can
enjoy a trip on a camel’s back, walk across suspension
bridges, try your hand at archery or even ride a zip
line
And for those who would like to spend a little longer
here, Selwo lodge is a rural hotel combining the style
of the typical African huts of the Watu and Masai villages
with the comfort of luxury accommodation.
For younger visitors, there is much to be learned by
paying a visit to the Nature Classroom located at the
Gateway to Nature, where an innovative educational programme
will teach them about the environment. The commitment
of these young ecologists will be rewarded with a refreshing
dip in the enclosure’s own swimming pool.
