If, on the other hand, you have always fancied the idea of
ploughing through the snow on a sleigh drawn by a team
of dogs, a trip to the Pyrenees is no longer necessary.
You need look no further than the mountains of Málaga,
the Sierra de Mijas or the Sierra de Alhaurín,
not to mention one of a number of dirt tracks, such
as those at the mouth of the River Guadalquivir.
The sport in question is Mountain Mushing, which is
practised in the province using sleighs with wheels
specially adapted for use in snow-free terrain. For
beginners, a bicycle is a good alternative. The number
of dogs hitched up to the harness depends on the ability
of the “musher”, as the drivers of these
improvised sleights are known. In any event, man a hound
in harmony with nature is a combination that gives immense
satisfaction to both.
