Who at some time or other has not wanted to play soldiers? Paintball offers the chance to do just that, but without any of the danger. Run, hide and take aim like the finest strategic, but remember –this a team game. It is also an excellent way of releasing stress.

The game itself is simple. A group of fiends is split into two equals teams. Normally, the companies that organise this activity insist in a minimum of eight participants, in total, so that two groups of four can be formed. This is not obligatory, but it does ensure that the game is more entertaining.

There is, however, no upper limit on the number of people who can take paint in paintball, so it is not uncommon to have games with 50 or more on each side. Each person is equipped with a gun (normally made of plastic, though the appearance of a real weapon) this is used to shoot balls filed with paint at the members of the opposing team. When one of those is hit, there are two possibilities, depending of the rules agreed beforehand: the victim is either deemed “wounded” according to the part of the body stained by the pain, or “killed”, in which case he is eliminated from the game completely.

Amidst all the shooting, there is an objective to be achieved. A flag is placed, normally on a raised area visible to both teams, the aim being to be the first team to capture it. As the two groups begin on opposite sides of the battle area, they will probably meet somewhere near the centre, so it is usually here that the flag is positioned. The first team to either take the flag or eliminate all the members of the opposing side is deemed the winner. Paintball may sound like a sport is which physical strength is the key to victory, but this is not the case. Equally important is the ability to think, work as a team and develop an strategic.
