Many eminent figures of yesterday have visited the estate, including the writer Ernest Hemingway, who stayed here in the early XX century. The architecture of the house, with its columned porch, is an example of neoclassicism adapted to the characteristic of the domestic dwelling of the time.

The garden, which is laid out in accordance with the French model, is home to a broad spectrum of luxuriant botanical species, some hundreds of years old, of the Mediterranean tropical and subtropical varieties alike, including palm, yucca, monkey puzzle and jacaranda trees.
